Civil Engineer Consultant

Area:  Central Brisbane, Australia

WHAT WILL YOU BUILD YOUR SUCCESS ON:

  • Interpreting and studying architectural and engineering drawings to find the best cost-efficient solution in the use of the company products
  • Provide engineering solutions on wood connections, durability, building airtightness, acoustics and fall protection
  • Provide technical consultancies on the mechanical and technical properties of the products to clients, agents, architects and project engineers
  • Visit the construction site to advise clients, architects and project engineers on the use of company products in the construction process.
  • Understand the Australian’s construction standards and regulations
  • Provide trainings to the colleagues and create training material on the engineering properties of the company products
  • Build strong relationships with entity and university of the timber industry
  • Collaborate in writing engineering articles for technical magazines
  • Be a speaker and represent the company key design and construction conferences
  • Collaborate in the creation of engineering calculation tools
  • Lead technical training courses to clients, architects and project engineers

THE FUNDAMENT OF YOUR CAREER:

  • Bachelor’s in Civil or Structural Engineering is required
  • Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, or any specialization in Timber Construction is a strong advantage
  • Be familiar with the design and timber construction process: we require at least 4 years of experience in the field
  • Experience with AutoCAD and design software
  • Language: the knowledge of other languages in our multinational company is required for better improve the internal connection (i.e. Italian, Spanish, French, German)

HR Manager - Construction Company

Area:  Far North, QLD

 The Company is a nationally operating civil construction firm, well-established in Far North of Queensland, Australia. It employs over 100 people, with staff distributed across various project sites and a core team of 10 based at the head office. 


 You will be reporting directly to the Director, and will carry out the role and advise on HR issues. In addition you will have a several staff reporting to you. The company is slowly growing with good quality work and is well regarded. The Director you will be reporting to has an approach of not micro-managing, where you will be left to get on with your role. 

Ideally a Diploma or Degree Qualification in HR from a College or a University would be desirable. It is envisaged you will have 5 solid years of experience in HR and ideally in the construction or a related industry with exposure to blue collar workers. This role will suit an HR Advisor with energy who wants to step up or a seasoned HR Manager looking for a new challenge.

The anticipated renumeration would be in the range of:
$130k-160k + superannuation + discretionary bonus.

This HR role includes:

  • Being responsible for Company HR Policy updates to keep the company relevant
  • Administer and implement the Company HR Manual
  • Coordinate with the OH&S personnel
  • Administer the Enterprise Agreement (EBA's) as required for field staff and the company
  • Overview Visa Applications for proposed overseas applicants as required
  • Overview the payroll process (done by others)
  • Coordinate the training of staff as required for VOC Verification of Competencies for plant and machinery operators.
  • Small amount of Travel from time to time
  • Keeping the Director/Manager up to date on issues
  • Involvement in the recruitment process
  • Familiarity with the blue collar work environment within the construction industry.
